ICONviews sets access control filters based on the
user's role (determined by login credentials) to specify
the set of actions and the scope of the data that the user is allowed
to modify and/or view.
As a general rule, organisations are only allowed to see their own
data, since information is structured on a need-to-know basis, and where appropriate, according
to the broad hierarchy of an organisation. In the case of third party organisations, such as
referrers and estate agents, only data that is directly related at a case level will be available.
This association is maintained automatically, based on case data. So for example, if a new case is
opened in Icon, due to a referral from a work provider, then this case will be visible to the work
provider when they log into the portal (assuming they have been granted access rights).
The following mapping rules are used when roles are used to access case data. Note that the
levels of hierarchy in this mapping act as additional filters on the scope of case data visible
to the user.
